When I think of over the knee boots, the first image that pops into my head is Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman.
Over the years though, this boot style has become more mainstream with casual options and outfit pairings. This season it’s become one of the hottest trends.
I’m breaking down everything you need to know on how to rock these bad boys without looking like a street walker.
Personally, it’s hard to find a pair that doesn’t end up looking more like pants on my petite frame, but I’ve found a few that work and I’m sharing some of my favorites with all of you. Don’t worry, I found some great options for all of you lucky leggy gals too!
Petite– When wearing over the knee boots, pair with short bottoms. Think shorts, mini skirts and shorter length dresses. You simply can’t pair with longer lengths; it will cut you off making your frame look even shorter, a big no no.
Steer clear of a stiletto heel for daytime, reserve those for date nights!
A low heel is not flattering either; choose a chunky heel that’s at least three inches high. Be mindful of fabrics as well, patent leather should never be worn during daytime (or in general). Suede, or the very on trend velvet, is perfect for day looks.
Tip: If you happen to fall in love with a pair that sits too high on the thigh, fold them down.
There are so many options available. Here are some of my favorites.
Tall– There isn’t much advice needed here. You girls can pretty much pull off any over knee boot. The same rules apply for day and night time wear. Some chic ootd ideas include pairing the boot with a loose dress and bomber jacket. Bloggers often couple with a long sleeve sweater dress (as pictured above).
Luckily, you ladies have the option of wearing low or high heels, making your options endless.
Here are some of my picks for you modelesque girls.
