El Niño had New Yorkers in tank tops on Christmas Eve but all of that is about to change. This weekend the tri-state area will be getting hit by ‘Jonas’, who’s going to be bringing with him up to a FOOT of snow! It’s safe to say we’re all going to be housebound for the next few days. I will be utilizing my downtime in a productive manner, by reorganizing my entire wardrobe, shoes and all.
I’ve listed a few ideas to help you deal with the temporary life pause, because after all, you can’t Netflix and chill all weekend.
As I mentioned, I will be reorganizing my closet but if you’ve already completed that during your last spring or fall overhaul, try sprucing up your kitchen pantry. If you have an attached garage, maybe it’s time to dive elbows deep in there and get rid of some unnecessary items. I know my beauty lovers have drawers filled with old makeup, dig in and start tossing!
The Container Store has great organization tools.
If you’re addicted to the Food Network like me, there are definitely times when you think ‘I could totally make that’. Well, now’s your chance. You may even have a sous chef to delegate some work to since everyone will be stuck home with you.
Here is a delicious chocolate soufflé recipe you can try this weekend, from the queen herself, Martha Stewart.
Call up a few friends you won’t mind being stuck with and make it a game night. I personally live for these nights! Whether it’s Pictionary, Taboo, or Scrabble, get a rousing game started. If there are kids around, you can’t go wrong with a classic like Monopoly.
Catch Up On Reading
It’s about time you start reading that book you’re using as a coaster. Your bestie swore it was a must read, so grab a cup of tea and get to it!
Here are a few of my favorite reads:
‘The Kite Runner‘
‘The Woman I Wanted To Be‘
Ladies, since your men will be snowed in with you, convince him in the sweetest way possible to put up that shelf you need in the bathroom. Maybe your room needs a fresh coat of paint. Check out these Pantone color of the year options by Lowe’s.
Turn up the music, grab a drink and make it fun a fun project for the two of you.
Put that Origins face mask to work! If your hair seems limp and lifeless, dab some coconut oil and let your locks soak in all that goodness. Are your toes getting gipped at the salon? Give yourself a luxurious pedicure, throw some rose petals in the water and get to soaking.
You will feel rejuvenated.
Preserve Your Costume Jewelry
I’m a sucker for H&M rings. There’s only one problem; they turn really quickly. Spend an hour coating your costume jewelry with clear nail polish; it will prevent them from turning. use a higher quality polish so it lasts a bit longer. See this option by Butter London.
